Social Mobilizer

Job Description

Social Mobilizer will be based in project area i.e. near to brick industries. Social Mobilizer will work with wards/ brick industries, child rights committees, labour office, employer of brick industry, worker, children, local government representative, police and teacher to achieve project objective to protect children from exploitative and hazardous work in brick industry. With guidance and support from Project Officer, Social Mobilizer will work with the above stakeholders to build their capacity on strengthening child protection system building confidence of children through life skills and creating protective environment at brick industry. The key responsibilities include; working with employer to comply Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) guideline in brick industries pertinent to child protection as well as safer environment in Brick industry, building capacity of local child rights committees, building capacity of children through life skills, vocational training to adolescents, Organize/facilitate Local child protection life skills group meeting; Produce monthly progress report. S/he will be also responsible to guide and mobilize worker/nikes in brick industry to do decent work, child rights committees members to ensure effective implementation and documentation project interventions in assign area. Social Mobilizer will be responsible to coordinate with ward office and municipality office to comply the policy and guideline regarding child rights/protection, child club, child fund and child labour. 

Job Responsibilities

·       Coordination with the brick industry employer to deliver project interventions in brick industry

·       Facilitate to child labour free declaration process

·       Maintain confidentiality and documentation of reintegrated process

·       Facilitate in the participation in events/program

·       Support providing field information as required to the Project Officer, Manager, Finance and MEAL to update database and information of project interventions

·       Support and coordinate to conduct baseline survey, midterm review, end line survey, monitoring visit in field level.

·       Facilitate to conduct project activities in brick industries and communities  in coordination with labour office, child rights committee, local government and other stakeholders in support and guidance from the Project Officer

·       Organize the local ward level meetings and events in coordination with the local government, employer and community groups

·       Support to collect data, verify field data and entry on database system of unaccompanied children in brick industries to reintegrate them to their family, daycare, school support and other events.

·       Regular visit to the brick industries and community to aware about the child protection system, occupational safety and health directives, endowment fund, social protection scheme to worker and children in brick industries.

·       Prepare quality event report and support to project team for monthly report.

·       Prepare and submit financial settlement with all required document, reports in timely manner

·       Support on CFLG and Child Labour Free campaign in coordination with local government to implement the events for the same

Social Mobilizer will be mobilized in other projects as per the need of organization

Job Qualifications

·       Academic Qualification and Experience
Intermediate or 10+2in relevant discipline with at least 3 years experiences on child protection projects in similar capacity or having strong social mobilization skills

Sector Knowledge/competency

·       Knowledge on empowerment approaches and able to mobilize local resources

·       Knowledge on child protection system, child labour, brick industry issues, occupational safety and health directives for brick industry worker and protection of children

·       Basic concepts and knowledge on Child Friendly Local Governance to work with Local Government

·       Knowledge on CFLG and Child Labour Free declaration process and necessary actions.

·       Basic knowledge on children’s risk associated with brick industries and support them to protect from hazardous work, national master plan to eliminate child labour

Capacity building

·       Good Knowledge on following skills (Group Management, mobilization of stakeholders, discussions, inter-personal skills, Innovation)

·       Good Facilitation skills

·       Good Communication and coordination skills

·       Event management skill

Relationship Management

·       Basic understanding on the importance of Networking and Liaise with Local government, ward/municipal office, child rights committee, community based informal groups, employer association

·       Support in organizing joint initiatives with these local authorities and groups

·       Representing CDS on behalf of BRiCKK project as and when required in local, district level.

Project Management

·       Good skills on Implementation and planned activities

·       Good reporting skills and database management for the Ward/Municipal level stakeholders and groups

·       Good understanding on financial management system like supporting documents for voucher, advance settlement process, documentation, managing under-spends

·       Good communication skills to deal with project team and stakeholders

·       Good skills in mobilizing the community based child protection formal and informal mechanism for the protecting the children and building safe environment in-line with brick premises

Monitoring and Evaluation

·       Experience collecting information from the community

·       Knowledge to understand assessment process and findings

·       Skills to do FGDs and Interview as a part of assessment/evaluation

·       Manage for field monitoring and evaluation tasks.

·       Update database and feedback in system as per need
